Spring 2022 Anime Blog Banner

Yes, I know. It’s amazing to see that my Spring 2022 anime list is a lot longer than my anime list for the last couple of seasons.

And it’s even more surprising that I didn’t reject any of the anime from the list that I came out for myself.

I guess that explains my lengthy anime list.

In case you’re wondering, I always come up with a list of anime that I want to watch every time before the new season begins.

I don’t trust my memory to remember every single anime that I want to watch. So, having a list beforehand helps me to identify what anime to watch.

And it also helps me with weeding out the anime that I won’t watch past the first episode.

That seems to be the case in pretty much most of the anime that I planned to watch.

What seems like an interesting anime to watch based on the description turns out to be meh in the end.

That doesn’t leave me much choice other than to weed out the anime from the list.

Amazingly enough, that never seems to be the case at all for Spring 2022 anime where all of them made it to my recommendation list.

Just to let you know that what you’re seeing here is only a tiny portion of the anime that comes out this season.

If you’re wondering what other anime comes out this season, you can take a look at the full list right here.

The Spring 2022 anime that I’m currently watching

I admit that most of the Spring 2022 anime that I’m currently watching tends to be on the lighter side, story-wise.

Does it mean that I’m over with the serious anime?

Of course, the answer is no. I still enjoy watching anime like Yuukoku no Moriarty and PSYCHO-PASS to name a few.

But at the same time, it doesn’t hurt to watch a light-hearted anime once in a while.

The only thing that matters the most to me is it’s the anime that got me excited to watch every single week. And it needs to have a good story too.

Whether it’s a light-hearted anime or not is secondary to me.

Another thing that I should mention is the fact that Summer Time Render is absent from my list.

Sadly, I have to leave it out of my list since I have no idea where to watch the anime online.

I can’t comment on how good the anime is and until at what point the anime covers. But if you’re curious about the manga, you can read my thought about the manga right here.

Just to let you know that Summer Time Rendering is one of the manga that I highly recommend everyone should read.

And now, let’s take a look at the Spring 2022 anime that you should add to your list if you’re looking for a new anime to watch.

Ao Ashi

Ao Ashi anime

If you take a look at the list of the anime that comes out this season, you’ll notice that we have quite a few sports anime coming out this season.

As much as I have a huge fascination with sports manga and anime and even wrote a basketball light novel in the past, I just don’t have enough bandwidth to watch any sports anime at this point.

One of the reasons is that the story tends to revolve around the emotional baggage of the main character rather than the actual sports itself.

Thankfully, Ao Ashi isn’t like that.

Sure, you still get to see the main character, Aoi Ashito, coming to terms with himself on what he lacks and how he needs to work together with other people in his team.

But what makes Ao Ashi different is how the anime highlights the path to going pro.

While most sports anime and manga tend to revolve around the main character joining his or her school team, Ao Aoshi is focusing on joining a youth football club to go pro.

I can’t say for sure if the story going forward will be about him having to fight a team from another club.

But I love how Ao Ashi gives us a glimpse of playing in a football club at a young age.

If you enjoy watching sports anime that is plot-centric, then you’re going to enjoy watching Ao Ashi.

Dance Dance Danseur

Dance Dance Danseur

This anime somehow reminded me of Ballroom e Youkoso with the exception that Dance Dance Danseur is about ballet.

While the anime does give you a close-up look at being a professional ballet dancer, it also touches upon the topic of manliness from the young boy’s perspective.

Of course, the main character, Junpei Murao, later on, realized that loving ballet won’t make him less of a man.

But it’s interesting to see how the story highlights the struggle that Junpei has to face as someone who is doing something that doesn’t conform to society’s standards.

If you enjoy watching Ballroom e Youkoso, then you’re going to enjoy watching Dance Dance Danseur as well.

Date a Live IV

Date a Live IV

To be honest, I never expect that we’ll be getting another season of Date a Live.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that the anime was bad or anything. It’s just that I thought that the anime will end in the third season and that’s just about it.

While it’s perfectly fine to jump straight into the anime without having to watch the previous seasons, I don’t recommend you do that for this anime, though.

It’s better that you watch the anime from the beginning to have a better context of what this anime is all about.

Deaimon

Deaimon

The story of a man named Nagomu Irino who comes back to his hometown and finally decided to inherit his family’s business selling Japanese traditional sweets.

And there’s also a story of a little girl named Itsuka Yukihira who was left behind by her father one snowy night at the shop. She then lives and works in the shop ever since.

It’s interesting how these two work together considering that Itsuka doesn’t seem to trust Nagomu due to him neglecting the family business for years only to come back out of the blue.

And it doesn’t help that Nagomu’s mother wants him to be a father figure to Itsuka.

Of course, the story doesn’t just revolve around Nagomu and Itsuka alone. You’ll get to see other characters that can help to strengthen the relationship between Nagomu and Itsuka.

If you enjoy watching a slice-of-life anime with Japanese traditional sweets as the main theme, then you’re going to enjoy watching this anime.

Honzuki no Gekokujou

Honzuki no Gekokujou

This shouldn’t come as a surprise here considering that I already watched the last two seasons before. So, it makes sense that I’ll continue to watch the third season as well.

Unless you’re way ahead of the story in the light novel, it’s recommended that you watch the anime from the beginning.

Curious about the light novel version? You can read about it right here.

In case you’re wondering, this is one of the light novels that I highly recommend you read.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai S3

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai S3

Not going to lie that the ending for the last season was pretty dramatic. Just as you thought that we won’t be getting any new seasons for Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai, we’re getting a new one for real this season.

And the school building that got destroyed? Well, it was magically restored after that. The story can’t continue when the school doesn’t exist anymore, right?

If you’ve been watching this anime from the first season, then you already know what to expect since the premise isn’t any different from before.

But if you’re new to the story, it’s basically about Shirogane and Shinomiya who likes each other. But for some reason, they refuse to be the first to confess.

Thus, both of them come up with their own plot in the hope that one of them will eventually confess to one another.

Just like your typical anime fashion, there will always be people who will get in their way. But since both of them are smart, they know how to get around with that.

If you think that the anime seems like a serious anime to watch, I can assure you that it’s not since it’s a comedy anime.

If you’re looking for a comedy anime to watch, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de

Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de

If you’re wondering if there’s such a thing as love knows no boundary, then this anime is a perfect example of that.

On the surface, the Reaper Princess and the Red Gelato seem to be on the edge whenever their eyes meet. And their fight is intense too, to the point that no one from Gelato 5 can provide support for Red Gelato.

Only Red Gelato can go head-to-toe with the Reaper Princess.

But the truth is no one knows that they’re actually dating. And they have to keep their relationship a secret too. For one Fudo who is the Red Gelato, is on the justice side while Desumi, the Reaper Princess, is on the villain side.

While I like the fact that this anime takes a different twist on the superhero and romantic comedy genre, I also like how the anime views the justice and the villain side like a normal organization.

The only thing that sets them apart is their goal.

With Fudo and Desumi trying to keep their relationship a secret, you’re bound to see so many wacky stuff along the way too.

This is another Spring 2022 anime to add to your list if you can’t get enough comedy anime.

RPG Fudousan

RPG Fudousan

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a mage, a priest, or even a warrior. Regardless of your job class, you need a place to stay. This is where RPG Real Estate comes into play where they can help you with finding a house according to your need.

While the premise behind RPG Fudousan is all about the real estate agents coming up with a list of properties that might be appealing to their clients, I like how the story also overlaps with the problems in the real world.

For one, Kotone who just turned into a full-fledge mage can’t see herself being a freelance. It’s because of this reason that she applies to work in RPG Real Estate since it’s a stable job.

Well, that sure does sound like a freelance job considering that your income will be based on the requests you completed.

And then there’s Rufuria who has to take the job at RPG Real Estate since there’s no vacancy for someone like her who is a priest.

Not going to lie that RPG Fudousan is a mashup between MMORPG and real life. But it’s still a fun anime to watch if you don’t mind the story that overlaps with reality.

SPY x FAMILY

Spy x Family anime

That’s already expected considering that SPY x FAMILY is one of the manga that I recommended on my blog in the past along with Summer Time Rendering.

So, how does the anime fare as someone who already read the manga until the latest chapter?

Well, I will say that the anime isn’t that bad. And the voice for Loid Forger is just like what I imagined.

The only thing that I’m not sure of is at what point the story in the manga will get adapted since the anime will only have twelve episodes.

I won’t be surprised at all if the anime will get a second season. But I’m guessing that the anime may cover until Bond joins the family.

If you enjoy comedy anime, then be sure to add this anime to your list.

And if you’re someone who prefers to continue from where the anime left off, you can read my thought about the manga right here.

Tomodachi Game

Tomodachi Game

You probably thought that the friendship that you had in high school will last forever. Heck, you do wish that’s the case.

But when your friendship is being put to the test through a game that you have to participate in by force, you realize that the friendship you have isn’t what you ought it to be.

It’s through Tomodachi Game that Yuichi Katagiri somehow realizes that the friendship that he has turned out to be more fragile than he thought.

When I thought about an anime like this, I was assuming that someone would die. Even if no one died in the first round, I’m pretty sure that at least one of them will die in the second round onward.

Maybe because I thought that it will be something similar to Squid Game where there will be people dying in every round?

Can’t say for sure if someone will eventually die throughout the story. All I can say is the story sure does make your skin crawl when you think of someone that you consider a friend is stabbing you behind your back.

If you’re looking for a serious anime as a change of pace, then this anime is what you need.
