If you’re someone like me who reads manga on MANGA Plus and you’ve read Excuse Me Dentist, It’s Touching Me manga, then you will say that the manga isn’t that strange.
Yes, the manga can be a little strange in its own way. But when you compare it to other weird manga out there, you will say that the manga isn’t that bad at all.
There are plenty of manga out there that were simply bizarre. It can sometimes feel like the manga is trying too hard to be as unique as it can to draw the readers in too.
While some of them are fun to read, others are just way too bizarre for my liking.
So it doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone that those manga don’t get to see the light for another day.
Only a handful of them that remain persist to this day.
One of the manga that I can think of is Me and Roboco where the manga is still ongoing to this day. But for the rest of them, they ended up becoming a relic of the past.
Like most people, I also have the tendency to drop any manga that I find plain weird like a fly.
But for some reason, I can’t seem to stop reading Excuse Me Dentist, It’s Touching Me manga despite its strange premise.
Yes, the thought of wanting to stop to read the manga did cross my mind back then.
But funnily enough, I keep on reading the manga till the end.
What makes Excuse Me Dentist, It’s Touching Me manga being a strange manga to me
When you think of a comedy manga like this, you tend to have this notion that there must be one person in the manga who is at least sane by a normal standard.
Think about all the comedy manga that you’ve come across so far.
It will always have this one character that is sane enough to question everything illogical that comes his or her way.
But nope, not with this manga.
Unlike your typical comedy manga, none of the characters in this manga have normal behavior and logic at all.
You can guess what happened when none of them have any logical sense etched to them – the misunderstanding will become the name of the game instead.
And to make the matter worst, none of them care to clear the misunderstanding at all.
They just let the misunderstanding takes its course.
That was what happened in the last few chapters of the manga where Takuma came to see Tomori for his hand in marriage.
But Tomori’s side on the other hand thought that he was there to wage a war with them.
None of them who are in the know care to explain what happened to each side.
And let’s not forget Takuma’s father who got roped into the mess despite he only came to Tomori’s house to get back his phone.
Do you see how messed up everyone is in this manga?
That’s the charm point of this manga
With the misunderstanding occurring around them mixed with the characters’ quirky behavior, it’s no wonder how comical the story will become.
What’s more, the manga did it in such a way that doesn’t feel like it’s going over the top.
Yes, it’s a strange manga indeed. And it’s a messy one too.
But amazingly enough, I still continued to read till the end despite its weirdness and madness.
And let’s not forget the manga cover.
It’s amusing to see the characters on the cover holding a toothbrush.
Well, what can I say? The manga is about the relationship between a dentist and his patient, anyway.
So, it’s logical to see the characters holding a toothbrush on the manga cover.
That reminds me of Tomori using a toilet metaphor to describe Takuma’s oral hygiene.
Yes, I know it’s a strange metaphor to use. But it sure is funny and unique.
If there’s one thing I remember from this manga, I will say that it’s the toilet metaphor to describe the oral hygiene we should have.
The one thing that I salute about the manga
While this type of manga isn’t really my thing, I have to salute how beautiful are the art style and the character designs.
That could be why I keep reading the manga even though I find the manga to be strange and just plain messy.
Of course, I was also curious how the story would unfold in the end. But knowing the relationship between Takuma and Tomori, it’s not hard to guess how they will reach the point where they have to be honest with each other.
If you think the story is marching towards the end in a straight line, you’ll be hard-pressed to find out that it doesn’t.
Misunderstandings still occur to them even during the critical moment.
Yes, everyone is still messed up even when the story is reaching the end.
Well, what can I say? It’s the manga’s bread and butter.
There’s no way for the story to end in a straight line.
Not my formal recommendation
Okay, I won’t deny that I find the manga enjoyable to read while it lasts.
But for the time being, it’s not something that I will recommend wholeheartedly on my blog.
Will I change my mind about it down the road is something that I’m not sure of.
But for now, it will stay in the it’s-fun-to-read-but-not-something-I-would-recommend category.
That sounds interesting
If the manga somehow piques your interest, the good news is you can read the manga for free on MANGA Plus.
Sad to say, the manga doesn’t get licensed in English. But the manga does get licensed in other languages, though.
So if you’re thinking about getting the print version of the manga, then your best bet is to get the manga in Japanese.
Can’t say for sure if the manga has Furigana in it or not. But if it doesn’t seem like a concern to you, you can get the print version of the manga right here on CDJapan:

Just to let you know that the manga can be a little BL-ish to some of us.
But don’t worry, you won’t find anything off-putting in this manga.
P.S. If you prefer a story that is more on the serious side and you don’t mind the story having a dark theme, then have a look at my book, The Diary of Modern Cinderella.
It’s a psychological suspense light novel.
